Police resources will be taken away from priority areas to police large expanses of open road for little or no benefit.  We should be concentrating our efforts on violent crime & Indigenous issues unique to the Territory.

Police should be your best friend and they should not be deployed as tax collectors.  This unjust legislation in our view will create a them and us mentality, which is the last thing we need in the Territory.

"I am an ex-policeman and I have been discussing this change in the speed laws with some of my old associates and it appears that not many of us are in favour of it. The force as a whole are overstretched as it is and to burden us with this extra uneccesary workload is unexceptable in my opinion. We should be allowed to target the idiots and unroadworthy on the road and leave the normal motorists to get where they are going in safety. Travelling for longer periods over great distances is a recipe for disaster. I can forsee many more accidents as a result of these changes.".
