People fined the $$ keep on rolling in for the Government Minimize

Cops book 12 for breaking 130km/h By Ben Langford 01feb07

"THE first month of the Territory's 130km/h highway speed limits has seen 12 drivers booked for speeding in the newly limited areas, police said yesterday.

The biggest fine went to a man who was booked at 173km/h on the Stuart Highway near Barrow Creek on New Year's Day. The man told police he didn't know the speed limits had been introduced.
He was fined $500.

While many drivers have got the message, sticking to the new limits on the long stretches of formerly open road has proved more difficult for others. One motorist was busted at 155km/h in a 130km/h zone, while others to fall foul of the law in the Outback have been clocked at 144km/h and 142km/h, all in the 130km/h zones."

In 2007 the Government made an extra $1 million in fines.  Your financial hardship is their gain.
