It would not be to far fetched to believe that by the imposition of a speed limit allows insurance companies a way out of paying claims.  This is because a national open road speed limit in all part of Australia would give them the opportunity to refuse claims where a crash could be said to have involved a vehicle exceeding that speed limit.
