Speeding fine...what a joke!
I was recently booked for speeding on the Stuart Hwy near Adelaide River..I admit that I was well over the speed linit and I have no complaint about the fact that the officer that booked me was only doing his job....but was my behaviour a danger to other road users?......traffic was very light, the visibility was excellent. the road surface was dry and I was in the company of other like-minded motorcyclists who posed no threat whatsoever to public safety....the strange thing is that I have since discovered that comments have been made in certain circles (read between the lines) that my behaviour wasn't considered dangerous, but I was breaking the law!......there is no doubt that speeding in heavy traffic and in posted areas around towns ect. definitely poses a danger to other road users, but come on....on a road like the Stuart Hwy, well out of Darwin and other towns?.....sit back and watch the money roll in....perhaps the Govt can use the money to set up a breath & drug testing squad and take the ones that really pose a danger to the public off the roads.... toad....

Re: Speeding fine...what a joke!

The only way to fix this is to write to your local member of parliament (see home page at bottom for contact info) and tell them that you will NOT VOTE FOR THEM if they dont change the law back.

Your local elected member has to respond to you by law to any written requests.  So go for it and fight the good fight as we cant allow this money grabbing venture to continue any longer

Good luck and let us all know how you went.

Re: Speeding fine...what a joke!
See todays paper, the police are now needing to use tire spikes! How insane is that, spiking tyres of cars that are going faster than the police can, that sounds like a great idea to keep the public safe(lol, NOT) !?! Aparently, well so ive heard, theres been drivers blasting away from police out on our open highways & they havnt been able to catch them!

Just drop the stupid limits & there wont be a problem!

What about the police using the tyre spikes in suburban areas for speeders so innocent drivers and pedestrians don't die. It seems that commonsense is overruled by legislation.

Re: Speeding fine...what a joke!

How bloody stupid. When the government introduced their stupid speed limit didn't they say at some time that going over 130kmh presents a greater risk of death and injury in the case of a tyre blowout? And now they want to deliberately puncture the tyres of speeding drivers!

Seems very hypocritical to me. Idiots.

Cheers
