As at the weekend (13th May 2007) the road toll for the NT stood at 14 - 4 more than as at the same period last year.

So far the Martin Governments raft of measures have not worked and if the trend continues the road toll will undoubtedly be higher this year than it was last year.
A question I would love to pose to Clare Martin is, "If the road measures you introduced are deemed a failure will you resign as Chief Minister?" because if they are proven to have failed then I think she should resign and I also think that clown from down south who supposedly is in charge of the NT police, Paul White, should also resign.
The KeepNTLimitFree boffins have been a bit busy lately so to keep tabs on the road toll I think everybody should keep this thread going and if the road toll changes then someone can update this thread. And always include a link to an actual article if you can.
I notice that everybody on this forum has gone a bit quiet so let's get some opinions posted.
Sorry Mr Administrator to inform you, but your link is out of date. It reads that the toll is 13 but it is in fact 14.
Cheers

"Man killed as car rolls and bursts into flames". This was the headline of an article in the NT News on the 4/7/07, on page 4.
This takes the toll to 21 and is 6 more than at the same time last year. The extra six deaths means the toll is at present 40% higher than the same time last year.
40%.
That's a massive increase
If we try and extrapolate out a bit and assume that there will be another increase of six deaths in the second half, that is, the road toll is 12 higher at the end of this year, that would equate to an increase of 28% on 2006.(2006 had 42 deaths - I am assuming that 54 may die this year).
Well, again I ask the question to Clare Martin, "Will you resign, as you should, if the road changes introduced on the 1st of January 2007 are proven to have failed?".
Hi Gecko, I just looked at the police web site and it says that 23 have died to 30 June compared to 16 for the same time period last year.

But you are correct, Clare and all the loosers that are "working" for her should resign. I am hoping that the up coming Alice by-election sends a loud message to her.....
Cheers.
Wow you are right! I was just going by what I read in the NT News.
Well Neveragain, that makes the situation even worse. 23 compared to 16 is a whopping 43.75% increase on the same time last year.
43.75% increase folks on the same time last year.
Toll is now 24 compared to 18 as at the same time last year.
That is still an unimpressive 33.33% increase.
Toll is now 25 compared to 18 as at the same time last year.
This equates to a 38.9% increase.
