Can somebody explain to me why the driver who ran over the girl who was apparently sleeping on the road is being charged with "driving a motor vehicle causing harm or death"? (BTW the girl was killed). The link to the story is below:

The driver is also being charged with being over 0.05, driving unlicenced, unregistered and uninsured.(Sound familiar!).
These charges I understand, but if was clearly the girls fault because she was asleep on the road then that is not the fault of the drivers, he obviously didn't se her or saw her too late to do anything.
Comments appreciated.
I think that the charges against him are an extension of the other offences he has commited. ie un registered and DUI etc. If he was sober and driving legally in every sense the charges would probably not apply.
This person is exactly the reason the NT are now suffering under Clare's draconian laws on our highways. I dont feel sorry for this person and I hope that he/she is taken off our roads forever.
If only Clare and her band of merry fools could see this. And now Paul Henderson, another extension of fools.
