Update & Whats NEXT?
Modified By Administrator on 2/27/2007 12:14:43 PM)

The response from Territorians is fantastic.  I am so proud that the overwhelming majority of the public can see through the governments plan to limit our freedoms.

Whats next to go?

1.  Hunting and shooting restrictions with severe penalities with possible jail terms?

2.  Total banning of fireworks!!

3. The introduction of statehood (just look at other States to see how their citizens are worse off)

4. The abolishment of many councils to form bigger ones that are easier to control by the government.

5.  Licenses for using a boat and even catching a fish!

6.  Regulation of the use of 4 Wheel drive vehicles as is the case in some southern states.

7.  The introduction of a whole raft of new regulations and fines just like the rest of Australia (Interestingly 20 000 new regulations have been intoduced with the labor government in the UK and 200 to date and counting by the Martin Administration)

Virtually everyone I have seen realises that our unique lifestyle is under serious attack.

The sad truth is that we are being misled  and I have no doubt at all that the Martin Administration will lose the next election over this.

Many people have asked me what the CLP are doing.  I have obtained a firm commitment from them that they will repeal this law as soon as they regain office.  As from Sunday the 11th of February a series of television commercials will be aired confirming this.  Also we will inform people using various media about the public rally on the 13/2/07 on the steps of parliament house at 10.00pm.

However we cannot be complacent so please spread the word as the more people we get to the rally the better so we can put an end to this right now. As we demand that the 130km/ph limit be removed immediately before more people die of fatigue.

Let me be clear about the fact that if there is sufficient statistical hard evidence that driving over a specific speed was the cause of any accidents then I would be the first to agree to a limit being imposed.  However no such evidence exists and unfortunately the longer we delay more people will die or become injured.

At least some evidence of speed from a statistically significant sample of crashes on NT highways is required before the decision to impose a particular speed limit can be properly made.  However, in the case of the NT Road Safety Taskforce Report, there is NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER of the speeds involved in the so called "speed related" crashes in the NT.  This is not and could never be an acceptable basis for making public policy and imposing it on NT citizens through criminal laws creating offences.

Please help us to get Clare Martin to see that she has made a mistake as the report she has based her decisions on is flawed.

Thank you and you all make me so proud

Re: Update & Whats NEXT?

Pity as we really need all the support we can muster.  You would only need to be there for 30 mins max.

Thank you anyway.

Re: Update & Whats NEXT?
I can't be there tomorrow, but I want to give you all my very best. It is in Darwin that a change of government needs to occur. We down here in the Alice have done our bit and elected our local CLP reps. Please guys, help us make the NT free again. It runs much deeper than the (//) zones. All aspects of our lives will be invaded by Clare if she gets back in. Good luck everyone. Be noisey, but be good. Cheers.

Re: Update & Whats NEXT?

Thank you and I met Jodeen Carney for the first time today and what a great leader she is.  Alice Springs got it right, pity Darwin did not see it as labor has to go.
