They must go!!!! What next???

There is an emergency unfolding in the NT at the moment. The federal Government is itervening in a way that has never happened in Australia's history. It has highlighted the incompetance of the current NT government. This situation involves the situation of the Aboriginal citizens of the Territory that have been living outside the law and some might say above the law.

Given the state of our raod toll and the failure of the new road laws and the situation with the indiginous people, there must be a way to force new elections. I dont think that the NT can go on like this much longer. We might as well hand over control to Steve Bracks with all his draconion laws and legislation. God help us!!!!

Re: They must go!!!! What next???

The way this government carries on shows they are clearly incompetent. They were the first government to get a no confidence vote by the AMA (Australian Medical Association), they passed legislation to override the supreme court so the Macarthur River mine could proceed without consultation to aboriginal people and in the process had three indigenous ministers of their own government cross the floor, and they sat on the report on aboriginal abuse for 8 weeks or so and did nothing. And last year, when Clare Martin was invited by Mal Brough to attend a summit on aboriginal issues, she originally declined and then territorians were portrayed as rednecks on talkback radio and TV down south because of her inaction. After a lot of bad press she attended the summit but made herself and territorians look very bad - the damage was done. On top of all this the situation is Alice Springs continues with crime out of control, locals living in fear, etc, because aboriginal people need to be housed. Another typical example of their incompetence is the fact that they want to spend $300-$400M on the waterfront development but don't want to spend the $50M or so required over five years to stop untreated effluent going into the harbour - yes, the same harbour on which the waterfront development is being built. Call me stupid, but I would have thought that it makes sense to fix the harbour first, then build your fancy convention centre/hotel/apartment?
