Here's another bombshell all to partner the fact that demerits do not work. To see that demerits do not work see the thread on this forum.
Now, KeepNTLimitFree can reveal that the NT has the lowest rate of speed related fatalities in the country, which means that the 130kmh speed limit imposed on our highways is totally and utterly unjustified.(We did our own research and compared the NT to all the other states, because the useless Taskforce did not make comparisons, and the NT had the lowest rate of speed related fatalities).
The Taskforce Report states that 17% of all fatalities in the NT are, supposedly, speed related. At this stage we will not release what all the other states recorded because we don't want the government to find out where we got our numbers.
But, I can assure all that the numbers are up to date and accurate.
Which means if you want to vent your fury on the NT government for imposing unjustified speed limits on the highway, then go ahead.
I apologise for replying to my own thread here but I feel it necessary.
Everybody, whether they agree with the highway speed limits, should be disturbed by the fact above, that is that the NT has the lowest rate of speed related fatalities in Australia.
This is pure fact, I have done the research myself, and it means the government and/or the Taskforce lied when they told Territorians they have a speeding problem because they don't.
This is why it is laughable if it wasn't so serious.
NSW has the highest rate of speed related deaths in Australia at a whopping 40%. What is laughable, is that this is in spite of all the cameras, demerit points and and creation of 40 & 50 kmh speed zones.
Whereas the NT, prior to all the new laws introduced on Jan 1, 2007, had the lowest incidence of speed related deaths in Australia at 17%, without fixed speed cameras, demerits and with unlimited highways.
Everybody should be asking questions of the NT government as to why this is so.Get a protest happening and demand answers!
I am off to Sydney in a very short time so I cannot do anything but someone should.
