42 NOW!!!
Darwin police have expressed disgust at the number of people drink driving, after five motorists were caught over the limit last night.
They include a 23-year-old who was caught driving at 100 kilometres an hour in a 70 zone.
"What's alarming is this male has a case before the court at the moment where he recently blew 1.23 per cent," says watch commander Gary Smith.
In other incidents on Top End roads, a man was killed instantly when his vehicle rolled on Ranger Mine Road near Jabiru at 11pm.
Police are not saying if speed, alcohol or seatbelts contributed to the accident.
The death takes the Territory road toll to 42.
Unbelievably, the road toll now stands at 43 which is 65 percent higher than the same time last year when the toll stood at 26.

BTW Supt Rennie, if you're reading this, YOU'RE AN IDIOT!
When all is said and done the police only inforce laws set by our politicians.
Until we focus our limited resources on the root causes of the road toll we will not get the results we need.
Safety not Tax should be our primary concern.
Toll has climbed again and now stands at 44 compared to 28 at the same time last year. This equates to a 57% increase.

To early for details, but I am certain ABC NT reports of a crash (Alice Springs region) tonight, 23 August 08) with two fatalities and I think an injury.
If so, someone can update here, I may not have the chance. Police website Mon-Fri only.
Thanks Keepleft for the tip. The police website has been updated, unfortunately, and the toll now stands at 48 compared to 28 at the same time last year. NT's road toll is now a national disgrace, and the NT Labor government should be arrested and tried as criminals for their irresponsible legislation which is supposed to save lives but is instead costing lives.
Major crash investigators are inspecting the scene of a car accident which claimed three lives south of Alice Springs.
It is thought that the driver of the car hit a roundabout on the Ross Highway near Ragonesi Road at about 6:00pm ACST yesterday.
The impact tore a rear wheel from the car causing it to roll and two people were thrown from the sedan.
The two dead passengers have been identified as a 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman. The male driver is yet to be identified.
The Northern Territory's road toll stands at 48 after the accident.
