Here's an article in today's NT News about a guy who is outing 'idiot' drivers on the internet.
http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2008/07/04/4565_ntnews.html
I would argue strongly that he is barking up the wrong tree because the issues on NT roads are as follows:
Drink driving; Non-wearing of seat belts; Single vehicle rollovers and run-off roads which encompasses overloading of vehicles (eg in 2007, 6 people died in a community in one crash); Pedestrian deaths; Aboriginal people overrepresented in the road toll as a percentage of the NT population; Tourists also over-represented in the NT road toll. We at KeepNTLimitFree know this for a fact as we have done comprehensive research proving all of the above.
I also disagree with the outing of anybody on the internet, for any so-called bad behaviour. Also, Australia is fast becoming, or already is, a nation of 'dobbers', something which was once strongly frowned upon.
Also, it is the job of the police to reduce the road toll, not the public. If the police were not so concerned with raising revenue and actually doing their job, the road toll would fall.
Can we please get some discussion happening on this!
Gecks
So we get our names on the internet if HE thinks we drive inappropriately. Is this guy some kind of self appointed expert??
If he was to name me for behaviour HE does not like, I would have HIM in court before he knew what hit him.
"The long-term Territory resident (pictured) has already listed the details of 13 drivers he says he has caught breaking the law in the past six weeks."
I admire his resolve, but his methods with just get him into a hospital bed!!
Been a few of these websites put up by character individuals over the years, some have made it to TV current affair type shows. Not legally safe and all quite unenforceable.
Best ignored. Have a problem of note, call the police.
NOBDOY is asking *you* YoYo to pay for 'excessive speed'. Under (//) you drive at a safe speed and you are soley responsible for how much fuel you use, and for your vehicle upkeep.
Since speed limits were introduced, all road toll statistical outcome has INCREASED. Very simple really and predicted.
More to 'safe speed' that speed-limits sport.
Personal responsibility MR YOYOMAN
The NT government could have set a precident by not following the status quo. Slow down if you want mate, don't blame speed as the single cause of accidents.
I would rather have someone switched on approaching me a warp speed, than someone stoned and pissed at 50k, go figure.
