Germany - Autobahns with 120 and 130 km/hr speed limits (and then derestricted at many places. Result - drivers drive fast where permitted but adhere to limits on other roads. Italy - point-to-point cameras on Autostrades to pplice 130 km/hr speed limits. Result - drivers drive at 200 km/hr or more, then pull up for a break so their average speed is under the limit. From personal observation over five months (Jan-June) in North America, England and Europe, Australian drivers are the slowest in the world! Also, overtaking and similar maneuvers are far riskier because of lack of space. Accidents observed in 50 000 km of driving - two!
