NT Highways are Perfectly Safe - see KeepNTLimitFree research which proves this beyond doubt

I feel it is time to reveal to you all some of the outstanding research we at KeepNTLimitFree have produced. Forget all these so-called road safety experts, they haven't got a clue. We have simply analysed the figures from the governments very own Taskforce Report of 2006, or Taskfarce as we call it.

Keep this in mind when you read this stuff:

1. We used the NT governments very own numbers; and

2. Numbers don't lie!! This is very, very important.

Below is an excerpt from our research.

"So, when we look at unrestricted highways combined for the reported period we can conclude that;

  • 19 deaths occurred in total on unrestricted highways involving speed; however
  • 4 involved alcohol only;
  • 2 were not wearing seat belts; and
  • 6 involved both alcohol and the non-wearing of seat belts

Therefore a grand total of 7 people died on unrestricted highways due solely to speed...... This equates to 1.166 deaths pa due solely to speed on unrestricted highways. It is very easy to see that speed was not a problem on unrestricted highways prior to January 1, 2007 when the speed limits were introduced on Territory highways.

So, how does speed as the sole factor compare to all the other factors;

  • Alcohol – 144 people or 24 pa;
  • Non wearing of seat belts – 112 or18.66 pa;
  • Fatigue – 17 or 2.83 pa;
  • Speed as the only factor – 7 or 1.166 pa!

But wait, there's more people. The info below will startle you even more as it shows just how safe Territory sealed highways really are.

"KeepNTLimitFree had to request further information to get to the bottom of the so called “speed” issue on NT highways. As a result we can reveal that:

  • A total of  9 people died on unrestricted sealed roads during the reported period;
  • Of these, 4 involved alcohol;
  • 2 were not wearing seat belts; and
  • 1 involved both alcohol and the non-wearing of a seat belt

This means that a grand total of 2 people died on unrestricted NT sealed roads during the reported period with speed as the sole factor.

Or put another way, 0.333 people died pa on NT unrestricted sealed highways between 2000 – 2005 with speed listed as the sole factor."

_______________________________________________________

So my good people there you have it. Between the years 2000-2005 inclusive, only 2 people were reported as having been killed on unrestricted sealed roads with speed as the sole factor.

IN other words, 0.333 people died per annum on NT unrestricted sealed highways with speed as the sole factor.

Given these facts,  I dare anybody in this land to prove to us that speeding is a problem, or was a problem prior to January 1 2007, on NT highways. No so-called road safety experts, no brilliant mathematicians, no politician, nobody can prove that NT highways were killers because the facts speak for themselves.

The numbers do not lie!

Purchase a hazard-warning triangle for use at crash scenes and breakdowns, mandatory in Europe, the triangle is used to improve on the warning time given to approaching traffic. I suggest Hella Part Number 2901.
