Cops told to fine more drivers

This story appeared in the NT News today. It proves beyond doubt that even though there is no "official" quota, the police are under enormous pressure to issue more traffic infringement notices, or TIN's as they call them.

Re: Cops told to fine more drivers
I reckon you are 100% correct gecko. The guvment here are desperate for money and to be seen to be doing something. In all my years I have not seen a guvment that has failed in more area's than the current NT guvment. Probably Australia's worst. And that assessment is coming from an ex ALP voter!!!

Good comment about former ALP voter, me as well. I put faith in this mob to deliver sound reasoning and considered policy.

Remember the old days when a spade was called a spade, I must be some deluded prick living in some idealistic past. Gone are the days of truth and honesty on both sides of politics.

We cant expect this government to be voted out unless people actually care, I would like to be proved wrong but I dont see that people actually care.

Please prove me wrong.

Re: Cops told to fine more drivers

If he has 'received mail', then THAT is where the problem is.

If true, then people need to know it and resove to vote the revenue raisers out.

A certain Monash road safety campaigner, not the one mentioned here in forum, is concerned that people are accpeting the speed cameras as mere revenue raisers.

He is right, and if that concerns him (Prof. I. Johnston), then so be it.  The road user IS taxable income, and that is all we are to most government agencies from AG's down to Auditors and Treasury.  Safety??  Rubbish.

NT CLP must make media of this, ensure they do so.

Purchase a hazard-warning triangle for use at crash scenes and breakdowns, mandatory in Europe, the triangle is used to improve on the warning time given to approaching traffic. I suggest Hella Part Number 2901.
